Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam district administration has begun extensive preparations for the CII Partnership Conference, scheduled for November 14 and 15, under the Viksit Bharat, Swarnandhra @ 2047 initiative. The event is expected to draw around 3,000 delegates from India and abroad. District collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad reviewed the arrangements on Friday and instructed officials to set up special help desks at airports and railway stations, where artists will welcome guests in traditional style. Cultural programmes showcasing the region’s rich heritage are also being planned.

Visakhapatnam: District in-charge Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy mentioned that the CII Partnership Summit scheduled in Visakhapatnam will be a significant milestone for the future of Andhra Pradesh. Reviewing the arrangements being made at Andhra University Engineering College Grounds here on Wednesday along with district officials and public representatives, he reminded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, IT Minister Nara Lokesh and other cabinet ministers have already visited several countries and invited industrialists and investors to the summit that would see leaders from across the globe.

A mild earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale struck Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh early Tuesday, with tremors felt in Visakhapatnam. No casualties or damage were reported, officials said, as disaster management teams were put on alert. According to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, the tremor was recorded at 4:19 am at a depth of 10 km with its epicentre located at latitude 18.02°N and longitude 82.58°E. “A mild earthquake measuring 3.7 on the richter scale was recorded in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Tuesday morning, while the tremors were felt in a few places in Vizag,” an official from Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) told PTI. The official said that the tremor was brief and local district disaster management teams have been alerted as a precautionary measure.
