United States President Donald Trump said Kazakhstan is among C5 Central Asian nations to join Abraham Accords, according to Reuters. Kazakhstan is set to join the Abraham Accords between Israel and Arab and Muslim majority countries in a symbolic move aimed at boosting the initiative that was a hallmark of US President Donald Trump’s first administration, PTI reported. The action, announced on Thursday, is largely symbolic as Kazakhstan has had diplomatic relations with Israel since 1992 and is much farther geographically from Israel than the other Abraham Accord nations — Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan and the UAE. Those countries agreed to normalise relations with Israel as a result of joining the accords, something Kazakhstan did shortly after gaining independence following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Russia Blasts Pakistani Daily: Seems like Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s effort to strengthen ties with Russia involves inherent challenges as the Russian Embassy in Pakistan has slammed the Pakistani daily, The Frontier Post, over publishing a ‘series of anti-Russian articles’. The embassy accused the Peshawar-based newspaper of promoting ‘Western propaganda’ against Moscow. The Russian Embassy also highlighted that The Frontier Post has its global news service headquarters in Washington, hinting that Islamabad is publishing anti-Russian articles at the behest of the US. PM Shehbaz Sharif Called For Strengthening Islamabad’s Ties With Russia This has come at a time when Pakistan is trying to strengthen its bilateral ties with Russia. On September 2, PM Sharif met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing and stated that Pakistan respects Moscow’s relations with India and wants similar ties. The two leaders held the meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
